Lines of Funding

MERCUR provides funding for research projects and, in particular cases, also for teaching initiatives. Funding proposals must either aim to foster collaborations between members of the UAMR or to strengthen a distinctive research focus area of an individual university within the alliance.

Four different lines of funding are available: project grants for single-university or collaborative projects, structural grants for setting up inter-university centers, individual grants to finance sabbaticals and support professorships, and starting grants to explore new approaches in research or teaching. In the first three lines, proposals can be handed in twice a year (May 15 and November 15). For the fourth line of funding, there is no submission deadline.

Eligibility Requirements

Professors and post-docs working at Ruhr University Bochum, TU Dortmund University, or University of Duisburg-Essen are eligible to apply for a MERCUR grant.
