The MERCUR Science Policy Network aims at bridging the gap between politics and science. To this end, it gives renowned researchers at the Ruhr universities, and executive personnel from ministries, the state chancellery and state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia the opportunity to discuss and review scientific findings as well as current measures and pathbreaking decisions in individual interviews and meetings. Attending joint conferences and discussions, the participants have the chance to expand their professional networks and gain new perspectives in their field of work. In the first year, the initiative is promoting the establishment of a network of ministry officials and researchers who specialize in digitalization and the challenges it brings.
The inauguration of the MERCUR Science Policy Network took place on February 6, 2018 at Blue Square in Bochum.
The first interim conference is scheduled for May 23, 2018 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics in Dortmund.
The second interim conference is scheduled for September 2018, the closing event for November 2018.
